3 Heartbreakers

My photo session with the Fender family was a lot of fun! The boys are so handsome and full of life. They actually have 3 chickens in their suburban backyard! The boys wore themselves out trying to catch the chickens. (Those hens are fast!) During the session, I learned all about “Clone Troopers” (Star Wars) and their clever mom had the boys convinced that a Clone Trooper was inside my camera lens! Thanks to her, I got some great eye contact for a little bit while the boys were on the play gym! Enjoy your sneak peek!

Looking for the “Clone Trooper” in my lens

These photos are fantastic, you are truly talented! I love your little Clone Trooper trick! That’s priceless! I’m going to have to try some tricks like that with my boys.

[...] the best idea I have heard in a long time and it was on photographer Elle Mendenhall’s blog, Elle Bella Photography. It really hit close to home and I am totally going to try it out soon.  The mother of the boys [...]

I like these photos. The one of the boys with the chicken (or hen) is really neat. Oh, and I love all the feet. Who doesn’t like little feet!

Powder-Washed Denim

While I was setting up the portable “studio” for his 2 yr old photo shoot, Hunter climbed up onto the changing table and dumped half a NEW bottle of baby powder all over himself. Rather than clean it up and change him into something else for his photo shoot, I decided to just leave him like he was – all powdery and sweet smelling. It’s just where he is at this stage of life. Captured perfectly.:-)

Little Monster

hayden_monster_storyboard

Maybe this post should be titled “Little Teething Monster” because I think Hayden’s 2 bottom teeth are close to appearing. I took upwards of 50 photos of him in this costume and he had his “paws” in his mouth in most of them! I must admit I stole the adorable blue monster costume idea from two other photographers’ babies. I just fell in love with the costume and when I called BRU to see if there was any left, there was just ONE and in Hayden’s size! So I took that as a sign that it was meant to be.:-)You’ll also notice that Hayden is SITTING! My baby is growing up waaaay too fast!

PS. Like the new blog?

Elle — I’ve been a long time admirer of your photography! I am a mother of two boys as well (4yrs & 5 months) and have followed your story for quite some time. I just wanted to comment that your photos are beautiful (it helps that you have beautiful children too!). The color, the lighting… just amazing. You’ve inspired me to try and take better pics of my little ones! :)

Tamara - October 8, 2008 - 2:27 PM

I found you! I love the new look. Too bad I am all the way over here. Maybe when I get back stateside I can come for a shoot. My MIL lives in the Dallas area, I don’t think it is that far for me to go???? The monster outfit is so cute. I also forgot to mention that I love the story board you did of Hunter (Autumn), I just love that one.
